Safety/Security Films

Our windows are the weakest link

Windows not only allow light to come into a building but they are also the most venerable part of a building and are the weakest link in the safety and security of a building or home. When there is a burglary, civil unrest, acts of violence, weather related events, riots and even terrorism, the glazing is often the target and also the point of entry. Once the glass is compromised then the potential of more damage exist. Safety film is a high tech, low cost solution to protect people and property. With security films installed on your glass, this will help to prevent access to the property or slow down entry. With a safety film installed on your office or home windows you are gaining 24/7 protection and peace of mind knowing your glass is protected.

What is safety Film?

What is Safety and Security Film? are polyester, or PET films that are applied to glass and glazing in order to hold them together if the glass is shattered. Safety film is a retrofit product. These films are used widely all over the world; they can be found on trains, buses, cars, and buildings.

Where can safety film be used?

Safety & security films can be used anywhere there is potential for injury from broken glass, used for security applications where a delay in forced entry is required, in schools and universities, store front windows, hotel atriums, government building, glass walls and homes. Safety & Security Films can be used in buildings to protect people from flying glass and particles.

Reduce Property Damage and Personal Injury

Safety and security films can dramatically reduce damage an injury from broken glass hazards. The safety film is manufactured with clear heavy duty layers of polyester film bonded with special adhesives and impregnated withUltraviolet (UV) Inhibitors. Thesafety & security films are available in either a clear or tinted versions.

Safety films are design to perform at levels above normal window films and a series of test have been designed to ensure that safety and security films perform as required based on the selection of film and type of anchoring systems.

These films can be applied to toughened, annealed, or laminated glass.

HOW THICK IS SAFETY FILM

They are available in various thicknesses, from 100 micrometer (or 4 mils minimum 2 ply) through to 525 micrometers + (21 mils). The film thickness is selected for level of protection desired and the dimensions of the glass pane. These films can be applied for security applications, where a delay of forced entry is desired. The performance of these films is dependent on several factors like strength, thickness of the polyester, quality of application, and window structure/frame. These films can be applied for security applications, where a delay of forced entry is desired.

Benefits of safety film

Comply with safety regulations and local government codes  |  Increased Safety  |  Increased Security | Blast Mitigation  |  Energy Savings  |  Great value when compared to alternatives

GSA-Compliant Safety Films for Windows

The US General Services Administration, GSA, has continued to upgrade the mandated requirements regarding glass and shatter resistance. Meeting the government requirements for personal safety may require upgrading existing glass with films. Whether the glass breaks due to forced entry, seismic activity or a bomb blast, minimizing the flight path of the glass will minimize the danger to human life. The GSA has set forth standards regarding window film application and attachment systems. When applied correctly by a certified installation team, Safety and Security Window Film will minimize flying glass shards in blast situations. The GSA’s WINGARD (WINdow Glazing Analysis Response and Design) program is the GSA and ISC standard for the analysis and design of windows subjected to blast loads.
